🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully orange skin (can be green-tinged in warm climates and still ripe). Heavy for its size, with a smooth, slightly glossy skin. Scratch and sniff — a sweet orange smell confirms ripeness. Navel oranges develop the distinctive navel opposite the stem.
All along this railroad fence besides the orange there's also a pretty serious blackberry bramble. 27 July 2015 it was a little late and berries were mushy; I'd hit it a week earlier next time.
