🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Large blackberry bush in the northwest corner of the Topaz Open Space. The bush is behind a fence, the gate to which is sometimes left open. The branches also poke through the fence, making the berries easily accessible from the sidewalk on Topaz Way.
