🔍 When is it ripe?
Berries fully coloured and slightly soft. Stem where it joins the bunch turns woody and brown. Seeds easily visible inside. Sweet throughout when fully ripe — taste from different parts of the cluster as they ripen unevenly. Grapes do not continue ripening after harvest.
Wild Grapes. Creekside, about 30 yards upstream from Powder Horn Lodge. Across creek from parking area. Alot of them still there, but well past prime in December. Our experience is they taste great in October and early November, and not good in December. This vine climbs very tall up a tree. Can only reach lower vines.
