Serviceberry

📍 12 Mt Vernon Trail, Arlington, VA 22202, USA
Serviceberry Public
🗓 Season: June · July
🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, round, turning from red to deep purple-black. Sweet and blueberry-like when fully dark. Birds eat them as soon as they ripen — check daily. Best fresh or in pies and jam.
Gravelly Point Park within 75 feet of the water East of the boat ramp. Three or four large Serviceberry trees. One with epic fruit yield and the others with OK yield. Picnic table close by. Also, fun to watch the planes take off and land at DCA from this spot.
