🔍 When is it ripe?
Large burs with very sharp spines. Fall naturally when ripe. Easier to peel than European chestnuts. Roast or boil; peel while warm.
7 Established tree with good amount of fruit.
Note from Park Ranger: all are welcome to collect but please do not hit the trees to get more. The ones that are still on the tree are not ripe yet and it damages the tree.
