🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
The pear tree hangs over the yard and dozens of pears fall onto the sidewalk and street each week. The occupant of the home does not use the fruit. The tree is excellent and produces a lot of fruit.
