🔍 When is it ripe?
Uniformly red with no white or green at the tip or shoulder. Strong strawberry fragrance even from a distance. Cap leaves (calyx) are fresh and green. Completely red flesh inside when cut. Wild strawberries are smaller but more intensely flavoured.
Wild strawberries on north edge of wood chip track. Watch out for poison ivy. Very fragile - if you don't eat them while you're picking, they will be moosh by the time you get home, even if you live in the neighborhood.
