🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Small greenish/yellow pears are all over the front lawn of this house. I hear from neighbors that both owners and renters are eager to have people pick the abundance of fruit, so stop by and politely ask...there's tons. Bring a ladder if you have one, though there is a lot reachable from the ground too. Apple and pear.
