🔍 When is it ripe?
Dark blue-black clusters when ripe. Cook thoroughly before eating — raw berries are mildly toxic. Ripe when all berries are dark and clusters hang downward.
Elderberry tree - great for elderflowers for cordial and elderberries for jams, syrups. Berries ripe August-October. Process elderberries with heat before eating/making into jams, syrup etc. Don't eat raw.
