🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully orange skin (can be green-tinged in warm climates and still ripe). Heavy for its size, with a smooth, slightly glossy skin. Scratch and sniff — a sweet orange smell confirms ripeness. Navel oranges develop the distinctive navel opposite the stem.
3 orange trees on the green at the river beach. Normally lots of people about but the oranges just roll into the river and are wasted, probably okay to take a few. Oranges gather in the water by a man made dam too.
