🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
Three trees of apparently the same variety. One is on its last legs, the others are fine. Decent sweet flavor. Probably not tart enough to be ideal for pie or cider. I don't know specific varieties so can't speculate. Bearing well. Be careful if you pick from a ladder, as you'll nearly by hanging over a busy street. Most apples between 8 and 13 feet from the ground. These apples are much better than the ones further down the hill.
