🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
Two large, old crabapples in front of Frasier Hall. Apples are edible though pretty tart, especially before the first few frosts, at which point they get sweeter. Spring snow tends to take out the blossoms, so I'd check on whether or not there's fruit before counting on it.
