🔍 When is it ripe?
Turns red, yellow, or purple depending on variety; flesh gives slightly under thumb pressure. Taste-test — ripe ones are sweet-tart with little astringency. Drops easily from stem when gently twisted.
many cherry trees planted by a sidewalk by a manmade pond. the fruit on lower branches are often already picked by locals so get a ladder. last season got three pounds of cherries by whacking with a stick! a few branches hang out over this manmade pond so those are unable to harvest. ducks and geese hang out here and eat fallen cherries.
