🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, oval, dark blue-purple. Intensely tart raw — best after first frost or for cooking. Fully ripe when skin darkens completely and fruit gives to pressure. Excellent for jam and gin.
Long hedgerow growing by the side of a busy road on an embankment. Suggest parking in a side street. There is a generous foot path to access.
