🔍 When is it ripe?
The green husk splits into four sections and turns brown when ripe. Shake branches or wait for fall. Cure in a cool, dry place for 2–3 weeks. Kernels should be full and not shrivelled.

The See, Pick and Eat nut grove was planted by the Prattville Tree Commission so that citizens, particularly children, could learn about the various types of nut-producing trees and experience the satisfaction of sampling the nuts."
