🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
This tree has even tastier fruit than then one next to it. Tufts University has threatened for years to cut it down because it has some big rotten spots on its trunk. The apples are so easy to pick on this tree and you meet very nice people when picking apples from this tree.
