🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
Many different kinds and sizes of crabapple here, including one at the northmost edge of fenced area overhanging the sidewalk with fruit larger than a quarter! Also a good spread of boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum) inside fence.
