🔍 When is it ripe?
Clusters of orange-yellow fruit; ripe when fully orange with no green, yields to gentle pressure, and comes off the stem with a slight tug. Very sweet and aromatic when right — mealy if overripe. Short shelf life after picking.
Planted in a carefully manicured sidewalk strip, adjacent the alley. As of May 25th 2023, fruit is medium density, ripeness is fairly consistently slightly under-ripe to slightly over-ripe across the tree. Reaches 2/3 of the way to the electrical line above. Street view shows some ripe fruit in March 2018, full of ripe fruit in April 2019, no fruit May 2014 after being trimmed back, some ripe fruit at the top in May 2011, lots of fruit in April 2009.
