🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
Apple tree in the boulevard on the North East corner of Mississippi Avenue and East River Drive in Davenport, Iowa. Apples can be picked from the city sidewalk and the street if you are concerned about stepping on the boulevard. There is another apple tree towards the other end of the same boulevard. I don't think the people that own this mansion would have planted these where they are if they were worried that someone might enjoy a few or make a pie with some.
