🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Excellent, reliable picking in late summer. This is a public green space, very accessible. You'll share the space with birds and bunnies... The area and the air are very clean -- no worry about car exhaust settling on the plants, although bring good gloves and tough clothing (blackberries have thorns!).
