🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully orange skin (can be green-tinged in warm climates and still ripe). Heavy for its size, with a smooth, slightly glossy skin. Scratch and sniff — a sweet orange smell confirms ripeness. Navel oranges develop the distinctive navel opposite the stem.
Healthy mature orange trees (multiple) near playground of Tri-City park. Fruit are baseball sized most years and are slightly more on the sour side of the sweet vs sour scale but still very good to eat. Trees are tall so bring a picker or a tall friend.
