🔍 When is it ripe?
Green husks turn brown and split; nuts drop naturally. Gather promptly before wildlife. Kernels should be plump and cream-coloured. Dry before storing.
One tree, furthest from Arlington (or maybe there's another non-food tree next to it). The squirrels around here strongly prefer these to the Black Walnuts nearby, and might even bark at you from the limbs/trunk. The nuts are eaten fast, and later in the season as production dries they'll all be eaten before even having fallen off.
