🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Abundant blackberries are found in the ecotone between the forest and the overgrown field here. It's best to access this area by parking in the small parking area near the end of the class six road. After parking, follow the jeep path until you see the field on your right hand side. I'm unsure if this is private or public property. However, it is legal to access this area due to the lack of trespassing signs.
