🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black when ripe; intensely flavoured and juicy. Spread a tarp and shake the tree — ripe fruits fall immediately. Stains everything permanently — wear old clothes. Do not pick unripe red berries (mildly hallucinogenic).
There are four mulberry trees in the park around the trail, but this one is really easy to hit via the parking lot. Once they get ripe, the birds will pick them pretty quick. Usually peak time is around May 25.
