🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black when ripe; intensely flavoured and juicy. Spread a tarp and shake the tree — ripe fruits fall immediately. Stains everything permanently — wear old clothes. Do not pick unripe red berries (mildly hallucinogenic).
Tree is in pedestrian alley (Frog Alley) connecting Heberlig Palmer Park and A St. The tree is on private property but many limbs hang over alley. There is some poison ivy that has been viewed there so please be careful.
