🔍 When is it ripe?
Background skin colour shifts from green toward yellow; seeds turn brown when ripe. Fruit separates from the spur with a gentle upward twist. Aroma develops near the base. Wild Malus fruit is often small and tart — excellent for cider and jelly.
Row of apple trees here that no-one seems to ever pick. You generally have to get in early when they are still small and sour, as the grubs tend to get to them later in the season
