Cornelian cherry dogwood

Cornelian cherry dogwood Public
🗓 Season: August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Bright red olive-shaped berries. Very sour when first red — wait until they turn deep red and fall freely or can be shaken off. High in vitamin C. Good for jam, wine, and sauce.
8/28/13 - The berries were super tart. The tree looked like it needed a drink. Mostly picked clean. Some fruit in the higher branches. Located just to the right of the entrance to the Ed Benedict Memory Garden.
