Austrian pine
π 600 N Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877, USA
There is a lot of Black Pine in this Area. But Partically this one is the Japanese Black Pine. Does it matter? no Not much.
Black Pine has 2 long poinky needles per bundle. Bark is kind of unique.
Needles can make tea by boiling them however they don't taste as great, slightly better than the regular Black Pine but not by much.
Pollen cones edible raw or cooked. Harvest them in Very Late April to Early May. Get them before them open up for crunchy snack. If you harvest them just before they open, you will be able to gather pine pollen form it and this one SHEDS A CRAP TON.
To gather just pick them off, lay them on parchment paper and wait till they shed pollen. Then sift through in a glass container and store in freezer for long time storage.
