🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black when ripe; intensely flavoured and juicy. Spread a tarp and shake the tree — ripe fruits fall immediately. Stains everything permanently — wear old clothes. Do not pick unripe red berries (mildly hallucinogenic).
A small, shrubby tree that is growing in the green strip between the Dairy Queen and Fazoli's drive through lanes. Looks to have been trimmed and neglected a lot but still bearing a lot of fruit! Was a delicious addition to my vanilla cone!
