🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
BlackBerry bushes line the fence of the golf course quite a ways along Abernathy road.
I have seen many people harvest berries there during the summer. They hang on the outside of the fence, so you can easily reach what hangs over.
I am unsure if they are sprayed with pesticides or not, but I have seen many people eat them anyway.
