🔍 When is it ripe?
Blue-black berries in flat clusters; cook before eating. Ripe when uniformly dark blue-black and heavy. Also note: elderflowers in June are edible raw and excellent for cordial.
A line of a dozen or so elderberry bushes along the trail. Also lots of Queen Anne's Lace.
This is a conservancy, so permission is needed to pick.
