🍎
Apple (Malus)
📍 84 White Hart Ln, London SW13 0QA, UK
🗓 Season: August · September · October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Background skin colour shifts from green toward yellow; seeds turn brown when ripe. Fruit separates from the spur with a gentle upward twist. Aroma develops near the base. Wild Malus fruit is often small and tart — excellent for cider and jelly.
Overhanging branches of someone's garden apple tree drop small desert apples onto the street in late July and August.
Apples are broken or bruised from the moment they land and easily found by apple-worms, but might do for cider or the odd lucky find. Seen on 4th of August during a hot summer.
Google Street View shows the tree in blossom.
There is a fine for turning left over the level crossing in a car.
