🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
Woodburn Suare is one of the many public parks in Douglas, and it's home to an apple tree which is a prolific fruiter. The tree overhangs the park boundary and drops a lot of fruit onto the pavement. The apples are small-to-medium, unknown what type but cookers rather than eaters and make excellent crumble.
