🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
One pear tree amongst many apple trees on the path beside Witty's Lagoon to the beach.
I don't know the exact species of the pear, but they are good.
There were a few left at the top of the tree in early October, but they probably tasted like wine. :)
