Needles make a tea by harvesting needles and steeping with boiling water. (Available Year Round) Yews which are poison look Similar but have flat needles, Norway Spruce rolls on your fingers. They also make spruce cones. Spruce Pollen Cones Edible raw or cooked, These appear in Early April on sunny sides of tree. Just pick em off and eat, they are crunchy before pollinating or harvest before they open to collect pollen which taste nutty. Sift through on parchment paper and store in glass jar in freezer for long term. Young Shoots of Spruce available in Late April, they are extremely sour and resinous, not very good tasting but high in vitamin C. Collect Seeds in Fall to grow it yourself. No Need to buy seeds.
