📍 MHJW+9H Tyngsborough, MA, USA
🗓 Season: May · June · July
🔍 When is it ripe?
Multiple edible parts across the season: young shoots (spring), green flower spikes (May–June, boil like corn), yellow pollen (June–July, shake into a bag), and starchy root (year-round). Green spikes are ripe when fully formed but still bright green.
Sherburne Nature Center
Lots of cattails in the beaver pond.
Plenty of foraging opportunities and variety: white pines, a few hickory nut trees, alpine strawberries along the trails. Dock, sorrel, dandelions, and other edible greens in the field.
