Pear
🗓 Season: August · September · October
🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Two pear trees next to two of the apartment buildings along this stretch of road. The trees are right on the edge of the apartment property, but the community is not gated, so as long as you're not a nuisance and come during the day, no one is likely to say anything. The tree has little to no upkeep, so the pears are small, and you have to get them at just the right time for eating (once they're ripe, but haven't yet fallen).
