🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep blue-purple with a silvery bloom; stem scar (not stem) at the top. Taste is the best test — a truly ripe blueberry is sweet and has no pink flesh inside. Let the cluster go fully blue before picking the whole thing.
There are countless highbush blueberries all along the shore of Pawtuckaway Lake. Many locals come to Pawtuckaway to pick the berries when they're ripe. If you do harvest these berries, please don't pick the bushes empty; by simply moving around the lake you should be able to pick pounds of berries, all while leaving many to still be picked by others and the birds.
