📍 Park on Ashland for a quick walk to elderflower bushes which in late fall make elder berries, but must be cooked before consuming.

🔍 When is it ripe?
Dark blue-black clusters when ripe. Cook thoroughly before eating — raw berries are mildly toxic. Ripe when all berries are dark and clusters hang downward.
Healthy landscaping plants in a semi-restored nature preserve, pick in early-mid June for elderflowers for liqueurs or flavorings.
