🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Located along old fence near power lines. Heavily fruiting as of 2016. Beware the huge poison ivy vine and leaves around this tree when picking. (update 9/18/16)- all fruit were gone from tree when visited.
