🔍 When is it ripe?
Green husk cracks and turns brown-black when ripe, exposing the shell. Shake branches — ripe nuts fall freely. Gloves essential. Cure in a single layer for 2 weeks before storage.
Not as good as others in town, but a decent amount of nuts this year. Not low to the ground for harvesting young for pickled walnuts, but dye/medicine/nut meat harvest should be ok come autumn.
