🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
blackberries intermingled with poison oak, if you are immune to the poison oak like me it's no big deal but if you are susceptible to it be careful. i have been coming here for years with no issues, however homeless camps are scattered throughout these woods and this last season i was told i shouldn't be here by a tattooed, shirtless guy with a large knife on his belt. collect at own your risk.
