🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Large pear tree in a disused walled-off lot. The wall is pretty low and can be easily climbed over, not sure who the lot belongs to but it is unused. There is a gate through which you can see dropped pears etc. - the pear tree is quite tall so may need a ladder for lots of the fruit.
