Apple
🗓 Season: August · September · October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
Apple tree on corner of Rt. 83 and Nielsen Drive. This is the SW corner of an otherwise wooded and undeveloped lot. Apples are yellow with red blush. Very few misshapen apples so there must be happy pollinators close by. Flavor is mild and sweet, more un-offensive than flavorful. No fences to cross, the corner lot is open and very exposed to traffic going by. Have not looked up the property owner, but do know that the apples have not been harvested (at least heavily) for the last few years.
