🔍 When is it ripe?
Bright to dark red haws. Harvest when fully red and slightly soft. Young leaves (May) and flowers are also edible. Haws best for jelly; one large seed per berry.
Tons of Hawthorn trees along this walking path through the middle of Notthwest Open Space. Loaded with berries! Northglenn has nothing prohibiting foraging on public lands, so fair game!
