🌳
Pecan
🗓 Season: October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
The green husk splits into four sections and turns brown when ripe. Shake branches or wait for fall. Cure in a cool, dry place for 2–3 weeks. Kernels should be full and not shrivelled.
There are a bunch of pecan trees all along the public city of Dallas park. They are scattered all along Shorecrest Drive and go all the way to Lemmon Avenue. As of July 1, 2015, there were still plenty. Many of them got damaged from all of the April- June 2015 storms. There are private residences across from the park.
