European pear

European pear Public
🗓 Season: August · September · October
🔍 When is it ripe?
Pick when background colour shifts from green to yellow-green and the stem separates cleanly. Finish ripening indoors — flesh near the stem should give slightly when pressed.
An excellent pear tree which has produced fairly well in the 3 years (as of 2016) where I have known it to be here. The tree, in the summer of 2015, lost half of it's crown in a storm and so will likely suffer in the coming years from the damage. The pears are yellow with an orange-rose blush when ripe and ripen earlier than some of the other pears in this park, which are found directly south of this lone specimen on the edge of the woods and in the tall grass.
