🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Beautiful blackberry bushes all around the roundabout. Safe spot to park nearby. There are two cultivars, a Himalayan (upright stalks) and a sprawling type near the little creek by the fence on the southern side. Not sprayed with pesticides as far as I know, and cropped regularly by city.
