Allegheny serviceberry
📍 225 Edward St, Sycamore, IL 60178, USA
🗓 Season: June · July
🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black berries, very sweet. Ripe by mid-June in warm years. Pick when fully dark and slightly soft.
There are two serviceberry trees by the front entrance of the hospital-- one by the large white sign, and another about 15 feet away by the other door. They technically overhang onto the sidewalk, but it's still a good idea to ask for permission first (especially if picking during the day when more people are around).
