🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black when ripe; intensely flavoured and juicy. Spread a tarp and shake the tree — ripe fruits fall immediately. Stains everything permanently — wear old clothes. Do not pick unripe red berries (mildly hallucinogenic).
I Saw a senior man picking from this bush in August 2016 and asked what they were. He told me he has been picking fruit from this bush for over 60 years!
Be cautious, though. The flat circular area to the left of it on the map sometimes has youths hanging around smoking weed.
